Organic Chemistry II Course Review

This workshop is tailored to students preparing for their Organic Chemistry II exam. Over 60 minutes, we'll dissect the core concepts, beginning with a fundamental understanding of nucleophilicity and electrophilicity, and how electronegativity trends influence reactivity. Explore the crucial role of hybridization in determining molecular shape and properties, and unravel the factors governing thermodynamic versus kinetic control in reactions. Students will gain mastery in drawing and interpreting resonance structures, and confidently predict the behavior of aromatic compounds. We'll delve into the mechanisms of key reactions, including electrophilic aromatic substitutions, the stereospecificity of the Diels-Alder reaction, and the intricacies of pericyclic reactions. Finally, we will provide a robust framework for approaching carbonyl chemistry reactions, equipping you to tackle a wide range of transformations.
